Common dreams: Flotation school
Common Dreams: Flotation school is a temporary autonomous space, focussed on interdisciplinary approach to enhance dialogues around the themes of sustainability, ecology, regenerative solutions and survival. The island is situated in the Old Docks (Handelsdok), which is a neighborhood that undergoes far-reaching urban transformations in the coming years.
This project is created by artist/performer Maria Lucia Cruz Correia. We became friends over the years and for future projects in 2018 we collaborate in the flotation school of common dreams. I focus on production. Our common dream in 2018 is to make a patchwork of islands this summer, linked to different communities/functions.
The first presentation (2017) of this island was in the old docks of Ghent which is a neighborhood that undergoes far-reaching urban transformations in the coming years. It was an interdisciplinary collaboration aiming to enhance a common space on the water to organize dialogues around the themes of sustainability, ecology, regenerative solutions and survival in other contexts.
